The ROOTS Project today signed the Lot 3 Contract for the development of 510.1 hectares of land at the Pacharr Rice Scheme in Central River Region South.

The contract was signed between the ROOTS Project and Long Jiang Road and Bridge Company Limited at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security, Quadrangle, Banjul.

The land development works will cover Units 4, 5, 6, 7 and Pacharr 105 of the scheme, marking another important milestone in the project’s efforts to improve irrigation infrastructure, increase agricultural productivity, and strengthen food security across The Gambia.

This investment is expected to create greater opportunities for farmers, boost rice production, and contribute to the country’s drive towards agricultural transformation and self-sufficiency.
