On Friday 24th June the ROOTS Project in collaboration with the Network of Financial and Tax Reporters (NFTR) held a day media sensitization about the project. The aim of the event is to sensitize and update the media on the activities of the project and it’s implementation status. In addition, it was also meant enhance transparency and accountability. The role of the media is key the project’s communication strategy for promoting visibility as well as  information sharing.

 

The President of the NFTR Mr. Abdoulie Nyocke thanked the ROOTS project for accepting to collaborate them. He urged other projects to emulate ROOTS.

In delivering a statement the President of the Gambia Press Union Mr. Muhammed Bah commend ROOTS for the initiative and urged other projects to follow. He added engaging the media will promote transparency and accountability. He urged the Journalists to do objective reporting.

For his part, Mr. Mamour Alieu Jagne the ROOTS Project Director thanked NFTR  for coming in large numbers to attend the sensitization workshop. He  assured the gathering of the Project’s readiness to always  engage the media.

 

Presentations were made on the overview of the project and its implementation status. The  workshop was very interactive and educative.
