ROOTS through it’s Rural Poor Stimulus Facility COVID-19 support phase 2 handed over 1800 Day old Chicks, Broiler feed(36 starters, 90 growers and 123 finishers), 36 Chick plates, 72 plastic drinkers, 72 chick feeders, 126 adult birds feeders among other things to the Department of Livestock to be distributed among 18 poultry schemes across the country.
Speaking at the event Mr. Mamour Alieu Jagne the ROOTS Project Director said the support targets the most vulnerable but also looking into commercial viability. He urged DLS to continue supporting and monitoring the activities of poultry farmers.
In his welcoming remarks Dr. Ceesay the Director General of DLS reiterated that poultry production is one of the most viable means of earning for farmers. He urged the farmers to see poultry production as a business. He encouraged other projects to support the industry.
