ROOTS in strengthening the gains of NEMA is completing six women’s vegetable gardens from six communities in the rural Gambia. These gardens were initiated by the NEMA but were completed by ROOTS.
ROOTS empowered the women by operationalizing the gardens, that is after doing a borehole, water reticulation system and provision of solar, the project also provided seeds ( Okra, cucumber, etc) and implements for the women to do rainy season production.
Community Gardens endeavor to produce vegetables that generate cash and help small-holder farmers who have advanced to the level of sustainable agriculture but are not yet producing at the level of a commercial farmer, grow and succeed.
These are pictures of products taken from different farms in Kanuma Lower Niumi ,Sololo Mandinka, and In CRRS, Kunting CRRN
