Smallholder farmers play a significant role in food production and Women make up around 70% of The Gambia’s agricultural workforce!By engaging rural women in the design and implementation of sustainable development projects, we can ensure that the needs of these communities are met and that these projects are more likely to be successful. We believe that this approach will help to improve the quality of life for rural women and their families and contribute to the overall goal of sustainable development.
As opposed to the traditional crops primarily for survival, these women are working incredibly hard. They are growing high-value commodities like chili pepper and okra in high demand on the international market.
