On Thursday, 29th May, the ROOTS Project hosted a successful Thematic Learning Forum on Rainy Season Vegetable Production in Jarra Madina, Lower River Region (LRR).
The event brought together over 50 participants from 25 gardens across the country and was graced by key community and agricultural stakeholders, including the Village Alkalo, VDC Chairperson, Lady President of Madina Garden, District Chief, members of the Madina garden, a representative of the Regional Agriculture Directorate, extension staff, and the ROOTS Project Director and team.
Participants engaged in interactive group discussions and hands-on demonstrations on:
✅ Raised bed preparation for the rainy season
✅ Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
✅ Correct spacing and disease prevention
✅ Compost making and botanical pesticide formulation
✅ Identification and control of major vegetable pests
A conducted tour of the Jarra Madina garden gave participants the opportunity to witness practical examples of climate-smart vegetable gardening.
Participants expressed appreciation to the ROOTS Project and pledged to apply the knowledge gained in their respective gardens during this year’s rainy season.
