Yesterday, members of the North Bank Farmers Association visited the ROOTS Project headquarters to showcase their newly acquired cold truck, provided through the Project’s 4P Matching Grant.
The truck is designed to ease transportation of vegetables after harvest, enabling farmers to move their produce efficiently to lumos (weekly markets) and other local markets. Beyond serving the association, it will also provide transport services for others in the community.
Through the same 4P Matching Grant, a combine harvester was also provided to the Jahally/Pacharr Farmers Association, which is already supporting rice farmers by providing timely and efficient harvesting services.
These interventions are significant steps toward reducing post-harvest losses, ensuring farmers get better value for their hard work while strengthening local food systems.
